Storing CO₂ for tomorrow in Denmark - Greensand Future is a medium-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) project aiming to store 300,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year in a former oilfield to support the EU’s net-zero goals.

Funded with €41 million from the Innovation Fund, Greensand Future by INEOS builds on a successful pilot to develop industrial-scale CCS in Denmark. The project will inject CO₂ into the Nini West oilfield, leveraging a ‘Port to Platform’ transport model. With operations starting in 2026, it could significantly contribute to the EU’s target of 50 million tonnes of CO₂ injection capacity by 2030. The Innovation Fund is 100% funded by the EU Emissions Trading System.
