The Small UAS project aims to develop a fleet of small, unmanned aircraft systems that use innovative technologies for improved performance and automatised processes. The aircraft are powered by either hydrogen or hybrid engines with advanced batteries, making them quieter and more efficient for undetectable missions in contested airspace. The advancements in automation will make possible human savings while maintaining maximum mission efficacy.
Funded under the European Defence Fund, these aircraft systems are designed to operate across various environments - air, land, and sea - and tackle important challenges such as being able to fly long distance undetected, being autonomously operable, and compact in size.
