Axelera AI works on an innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI) accelerator: It develops a chip allowing to deploy AI applications at the edge of a network (such as smart cameras) in a power-efficient, and cost-effective way. Axelera’s solution aims at overcoming the cost barriers currently faced by companies willing to adopt AI into day-to-day operations.
A Dutch start-up founded in July 2021, Axelera AI has grown to 200+ employees across 15 countries. It has developed three AI chips, with over 120 customers integrating them into retail automation, robotics, and security. The next step is mass production, scaling into High-Performance Computing (HPC). With EIC STEP Scale Up funding, Axelera AI’s aim is to secure Europe’s place in the AI revolution, eliminate reliance on foreign chips, and build a competitive, sovereign AI industry.
