Forging a synergy for the European Industry of the Future
STEP aims to boost investment in critical technologies in Europe, through various types of EU funding, including grants and loans. Often the projects funded are risky, as they involve areas with underlying market failures. STEP will help de-risk those projects.
Investment needs across the EU are massive - European industries are also in need of private capital to reach their full potential.
If you are an investor, we invite you to consult this page regularly to find innovative projects that may be an attractive investment prospect. Look, in particular, for those, that have received a STEP Seal from the European Commission. The first STEP Seals will be awarded end of 2024 and the corresponding projects will be showcased on this Portal.

The European Commission will award STEP Seals to projects meeting all minimum quality requirements of a STEP relevant EU call for proposals. The STEP Seal intends to facilitate access to EU funding across different programmes. By receiving the STEP Seal, a project has shown its excellence and relevance to the competitiveness of the EU - a clear signal to public and private investors.
Strategic projects under Net-Zero Industry Act and Critical Raw Materials Act
Strategic projects recognised under the Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA) and the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) will also be able to receive support via STEP, including cumulative funding through various EU programmes under certain conditions.
