With €3 million in EU funding, SPACELINK will develop and manufacture advanced optical transceivers to power high-speed satellite communications, reducing Europe’s reliance on non-EU suppliers. The project will demonstrate flight-ready components at TRL (Technology Readiness Level) 7 through VCSEL-based and photonic integrated circuit technologies, enhancing Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) performance. By fostering wafer-scale fabrication and supply chain independence, SPACELINK will strengthen Europe’s position in space and digital technologies.
